Description
2008 Urban Drought Workshop: Preparing for Action - California is experiencing multiple dry years. It is likely that future water deliveries will be curtailed (even with normal precipitation) because reservoir levels are so low. The California Department of Water Resources and the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation are sponsoring workshops to assist urban water suppliers planning for these conditions. The workshops will provide the most current information about the water supply situation and how to review, update, and implement Water Shortage Contingency Plans. Guest speakers will share local experiences, challenges and solutions in coping with water shortages at their agencies. DWRs Urban Drought Guidebook 2008 Updated Edition will be provided. It is available as a PDF at www.owue.water.ca.gov. Suggested attendees: general managers, elected officials, conservation staff, and drought team leaders. There is no charge to attend the workshop. No lunch will be provided. (After the lunch break there will be an optional question and answer session at 1:30 for further discussion.)
